Help With Estate Planning And "Super Deeds"

We want your estate plan to comprehensively address your future. That involves much more than simply executing a last will and testament. Our goal is to develop a legal strategy that will preserve your values and your legacy.

Preserving Your Assets

We have the experience to offer you the most current developments in asset preservation and probate avoidance strategies. At the same time, we want you to be prepared in the event of potential medical or financial emergencies, especially situations where you might be unable to make your own decisions. You may also have additional concerns regarding the extended care of loved ones, protecting your privacy or charitable giving goals.

A Starting Point

A basic estate plan has several components, including a last will and testament, a durable power of attorney, a living will, a medical power of attorney or health care surrogate, and a revocable living trust. For a flat fee, we will set up all of these documents for you. We also offer a free annual review to ensure that your plan accurately reflects any changes in your personal or family life.

Drafting Your Will

The will serves as the master document, incorporating other legal instruments in your estate plan by reference. A durable power of attorney, which has legal effect only during your lifetime, may name an agent to make financial decisions on your behalf in the event of incapacity. A living will, or health care advance directive, preserves your wishes regarding life-sustaining treatments. Finally, a living revocable trust is a type of trust over which you maintain complete control as both the trustee and beneficiary during your lifetime, but which later allows your estate to avoid probate.

Helping You Avoid Probate

Where possible, we also try to realize your goals in the most efficient way possible. One probate avoidance strategy is to transfer title to real estate in a fashion similar to a payable on death account, or POD. We termed this type of arrangement a "Super Deed."

Keeping Up With Changes In Your Life

Finally, we understand that your estate plan must be updated as your life changes. That is why we offer a free annual review to our clients. We can draft codicils to update changes in your financial situation, marital status and general lifestyle decisions.
